The classic American amplifiers of the ‘50s and ‘60s inspired us to create the, errrrr, American Classic series.
The Ceriatone 6G6-B amplifier is based on the blonde-colored amplifier of the same designation. This amplifier was made in a short transition period between the “tweed” amplifiers of the ‘50s and the “blackface” amplifiers of the mid and late ‘60s. It is worth noting this is the model of amplifier made most famous by everyone’s favorite rockabilly virtuoso.
The 6G6-B has two channels, one Bass and one Normal. The Bass channel is voiced quite differently, and has a much more firm, full bottom end and slightly warmer high end. The Normal channel features a unique tonestack that sits somewhere between the famous 5F6-A and the later “blackface” amplifiers. Tonally, the Normal channel seems to do just that, combine the grunt and warmth of the 5F6-A with the percussive feel and clarity of the “blackface”.
Like other Ceriatone amps, we have labored carefully to select the finest components to suit the design, and the 6G6-B uses our specially designed custom transformers for superior reliability, frequency response, and feel.
